Sketchbook: Tiny House Garden Life

NO PAINT! ONLY COLORED PENCILS and INK (black and some white)… I’m really liking colored pencils… I want to try WATERCOLOR COLORED PENCILS next… need to purchase some… for now I’m having FUN with standard ones…

Fruit Bowl Kinda Morning

Diving into my sketchbook for this art challenge… this bowl of goodness looked so yummy and vibrant that I needed to match the fruit…

I couldn’t stop myself from adding several patterns as I sketched… may have gotten a little crazy BUT I was have FUN and love the results…

You can see from the photo prompt that I really embellished… adding and adding…

I definitely made this composition my own… I did it my way…

Coffee waiting for the Birds

I have NOT filmed my painting process since June… I was VERY overdue… so here is the final result followed by a video…

LOVED painting this… part of this artwork features windows looking out into my secret garden with birdbaths and birdfeeders filled and ready for the swarm of adorable birds that visit daily. The part of this painting was inspired by this photo (but you can see I veered off with colors and patterns)…

European Balcony Vibe

This was an art challenge still life: three pieces of pottery on a table… I took it on a trip…

I followed the prompt to this point…

I kept most of the table in a wicker pattern but added some fabric on top… tiled the floor beneath it…

Background… the original is plain black… but I liked this village vibe…

Sooooo… I sketched in a portion and added a little greenery and a blue sky… and I’m happy!!!

MOST OF MY ARTWORK can easily be made into Art Cards… really ALL of it BUT square art has to be made narrow and it doesn’t look exactly like the original artwork… but it can be done and has been done by me several times!

 

Sketchbook: Flower Lineup

A sketchbook is a good place to play with materials… that’s just what I did for this art challenge… PENCIL was my main media. First, I sketched the subject with regular pencil and then I started outlining and filling in with colored pencil… NO ink! I LOVE using ink but sometimes you have to leave your comfort zone… I did use a little watercolor wash for the sky background and water in the containers…

Amazing how dark it is today and why my photographed artwork above looks like it’s captured at night… thanks Hurricane Hilary—LOL!!!

NOW… on to the art challenge photo prompt for my sketchbook creation…

Although I like the result of my mainly colored pencil/no ink art, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ink outlines… art doesn’t feeling like mine completely without it… BUT fun to learn…

This artwork reminds me of my interior design days… The title is a play on the binoculars on the shelf… looking at books or spying on someone or something… hmmmm…

For this challenge; I used mainly colored pencils… I’m really having fun with them these days… minimal watercolor paint for background… I’ve been learning so much this year: trying new things!

Sunrise Café Crème Balcony

Hmmmm... I might get up to watch a sunrise in Paris... not on my list of things to do at home... lol...

The start above before the sunrise was painted in the background…  art sketch poorly lit!

It is very difficult to capture the true color of my paintings... they are sooooo much better in person... the photo above of my artwork painted was scanned onto my computer, and this one was photograph at night under soft lighting...

And this one was scanned with my iPhone...

And this last one is photographed in the daylight...
